CIAA nips promotions of officials at eye centre

Kathmandu, April 13:

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) today ordered the BP

Lions Eye Research Centre not to promote its executive director, Dr Shasanka Koirala,

and other three officials for the next two years.

The CIAA named chief accountant Nirmal Kumar Dawadi, administration chief Shambhu Karki and chief of the TU administration Chandra Kumar Rai as the other officials who should not be promoted. The CIAA has said that it found they all had committed irregularities in the construction of a building of the research centre.

The CIAA also said it has refunded Rs 1.6 million to TU, collected from the accused Asish Shanti JV Construction Company that siphoned off the amount while constructing the building.
