CIAA seeks suspension of LRO officials
Kathmandu, January 7
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority today directed the Ministry of Land Reform and Management to suspend the in-charge and a nayab subba (non-gazetted first class officer) of Land Revenue Office, Kalanki, for their alleged involvement in corruption.
“The CIAA wrote to the MoLRM to suspend LRO in-charge Shiva Prasad Rimal and nayab subba Hari Prasad Acharya with immediate effect under Section 19(3) of the CIAA Act, 1991 as they are likely to hinder the ongoing investigation while remaining in office,” said a statement issued by CIAA.
Rimal and Acharya have been accused of registering 92 ropani and 2 ana land (plot no. 101) located in Chandragiri Municipality-2 (previously Badbhanjyang VDC-3), Kathmandu, in the name of Suyal Housing Company Pvt Ltd in contravention of Section 8(3) of the Land Revenue Act, 1978.
Earlier, local community forest users’ group had been protecting and using the forested area.
