Minister of Education and Sports Hari Bahadur Basnet inaugurated a seminar here today on the role of civic education in democratic exercise organised on the

occasion of the third anniversary of the Civic Education Promotion Society.

Basnet said that the level of awareness of the common citizens should be raised for the promotion of democracy.

Stating that the role of educated manpower would be vital for the management of conflict in the country, he called upon the political parties to rise above party interests.

He said: "The present government wants to constitute an all-party government but the political parties have not shown any inclination to join the government to resolve the problems facing the country."

President of the Civic Education Promotion Society Dr Trailokya Nath Upreti presided.
