Civil servants’ fresh protest plans

Kathmandu, June 19:

A day after Minister of State for General Administration Ram Chandra Yadav conceded that the government was all set to increase the salary of civil servants, all the three associations of the government employees today announced fresh protest programmes.

They demanded that the government meet their various demands.

The three organisations — Nepal Government Employees Organisation, Nepal National Employees Organisation, and Nepal Government Employees Union — said they would work with black bands on their arms for two days starting June 20.

They also said they would halt work for an hour for two days from June 24 to June 29.

According to them, the employees will wear black bands around their arms and halt work two hours for six days from July 1.

The other protest programmes include gheraoing the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry for General Administration and organising a sit-in in front of the Parliament at 3:30 pm on July 3. Meanwhile, the task force, which was expected to submit its recommendations on the bureaucracy structure to the government, is expected to submit the report within two days.
