KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri on Sunday left for a week-long official visit to China leading an eight-member team.

According to Nepal Army’s Directorate of Public Relations, this is General Chhetri’s first visit to the northern neighbour since he assumed office in September.

Gen Chhetri was invited by Gen Fang Fenghui, chief of the People’s Liberation Army of China. Gen Chhetri is scheduled to observe various Chinese military structures and hold meetings with Chinese generals.

“Nepali Army believes that the COAS’ visit would help further strengthen the cordial relations between the armies of the two countries,” the DPR said.
