KATHMANDU: Chief of the Army Staff Gaurav Shamsher Rana paid last tribute to Warrant Officer 2, Basanta Bahadur Titara.
NA had organised a condolence programme at its No. 11 Brigade at Tribhuvan International Airport for the same.
Titara was serving in the NA from May 2, 2000 and was recently serving at the Yuddha Bhairava Battalion.
The dead body of Titara has been handed over to his father Purna Bahadur Titara and is to be taken to his birthplace Shikhar VDC-2 of Darchula district.
Titara was killed in a US helicopter crash at Ghorthali of Sindhupalchock district on May 12. The helicopter was mobilised for rescue and relief operation in the quake affected areas.
In the accident, five civilians, two NA personnel and six US army personnel were killed.
The NA source has stated that it delayed to handover the dead bodies to the families of the deceased as the mortal remains were found in scattered condition at the accident site and DNA tests needed to be carried out.
At the tribute-paying programme, high level NA officials and US Charge d' Affaires Patricia Mahoney were present.
