Con artists swindle Qatar returnee of five tola gold
KATHMANDU: Three unidentified men reportedly swindled a man who recently returned from Qatar of five tola gold, police said.
The victim has been identified as Bishnu Sunar (27) of Surkhet district.
Sunar, who had stayed at Gongabu-based Ravi Guest House, was approached by three men, who told him that they were also from Surkhet, and said they were trying to exchange Qatari Riyal 25,000.
They told him they needed Rs 4,00,000 and a passport as collateral for the exchange, and lured him into temptation of Rs 20,000 commission if he gave them his passport and the gold that he he possessed.
The trio took Sunar to Bouddha area and fled with the five tola gold and three blankets, police said.
Police said they are looking into the case.
