Constitution amendment proposal within a month: KC
KATHMANDU: Minister for Urban Development Arjun Narsingha KC said the government would table the Constitution amendment proposal at the House within a month after the end of Dashain festival.
Speaking with journalists in Kathmandu on Friday, KC said it would take 15 to 30 days after Dashain to register the proposal in a bid to address concerns of the agitating Madhes-centric parties.
"There will not be any delay to forward the amendment process," he said, "The major parties are holding final discussions for it."
The Nepali Congress leader hoped that the main opposition CPN-UML would also extend support to the amendment proposal.
"All parties have significant responsibilities to make the Constitution all-acceptable," he said, "In particular, the Congress, the UML and the Maoists should unite."
Meanwhile, KC said the government was committed to holding elections at local, provincial and federal levels and added that the Madhes-centric parties should also be taken into confidence for the same.
