Constitution Day to be observed for three days

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Constitution Day Main Celebrations Committee presided over by its Chairman Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday decided to observe the Day for three days from September 18 to 20 by organising various programmes.

The Committee meeting that took place at the Ministry of Home Affairs decided to observe the Day that falls on Asoj 3 in the Nepali calendar (September 19 this year) in the commemoration of the promulgation of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal by organising various programmes in Nepal and abroad.

The Committee comprises Chief Justice Sushila Karki, Speaker Onsari Gharti, deputy prime ministers, ministers, former prime ministers, former speakers and incumbent state ministers as its members.

National Planning Commission Vice-chairperson, Nepal Academy Chancellor, SC justices, lawmakers, Chief Secretary, Chief of Army Staff , General Secretary of Legislature-Parliament Secretariat, chiefs of political parties and constitutional bodies, university vice-chancellors and government secretaries are also members of the Committee .

It has formed a 22-member publicity subcommittee headed by the Minister for Information and Communications.

The main celebrations will be held at 8:00 am on September 19 at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel in the presence of President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
