Consultancy operator nabbed for migration fraud
KATHMANDU: Education consultancy operator has been arrested for his alleged involvement in migration fraud, from Banepa of Kavre on Thursday.
Narayan Kumar Khadka (38) from Tilanghat-6 of Solukhumbu district is the owner of High Link Education Consultancy and Job Placement Centre located in Tinkune in Kathmandu, the Metropolitan Crime Division informed in a statement.
Police said he had swindled various persons of Rs 21.48 million with false assurances of sending them to Russia, Canada and various European nations.
Khadka is a temporary resident of Pepsicola-8, Kathmandu district.
Police said the MCD had swung into action after relatives of some victims filed complaints against him.
Police investigations meanwhile revealed that he had cheated at least 32 persons into paying his Rs 21.5 million, claiming he would send them to Canada.
Police have impounded 14 passports of various persons, the stamp of his consultancy, a laptop and 150 photos of people, the MCD added.
Further investigation is underway, according to police.
