Contempt of court case filed against Dahal and Oli
Kathmandu, October 30
A contempt of court writ petition was filed at the Supreme Court today against CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and CPN-Maoist Centre Pushpa Kamal Dahal for allegedly making contemptuous remarks against the Supreme Court’s order regarding separate ballot papers for provincial and parliamentary first-past-the-post elections.
Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal leader Sarvendranath Shukla filed the case saying that no one had the right to question the court’s order and Dahal and Oli had not honoured the court.
The SC on October 25 issued an order to EC commissioners and the prime minister telling them to furnish reply within three days on what progress was made regarding its previous order wherein it had said that the poll panel should seriously consider printing separate types of FPTP ballot papers for the upcoming elections. Shukla has stated in his case that Dahal and Oli said that they would not allow printing of separate ballot papers at any cost.
