Cops clueless about Shrestha’s killers

Lalitpur, May 14:

The Metropolitan Police today said that they “haven’t yet got any clue” about the assailants who shot dead a manpower agent and injured another at Dhadodhunga in Lalitpur yesterday evening.

The assailants, who came on two motorcycles, beat up Rajiv Shrestha, 34, proprietor of the Capital International Manpower Pvt Ltd and Prakash Rana, 33, after stopping the motorcycle they were riding, police said.

“Then, they opened fire. Shrestha died on the spot, whereas Rana sustained injury on waist. He is undergoing treatment at Patan Hospital,” Madhav Nepal, SP at the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, said. The police said that Shrestha hailed from Dharan.

“Shrestha’s colleagues informed us that a group had sent an e-mail to them asking for a huge sum of money a week ago. But, we are trying to verify the statement,” he said, adding that investigation is on. Shrestha’s body was taken to the office of the Manpower Agents’ Association this afternoon for last tributes after post-mortem was conducted. He was cremated at the Pashupati Aryaghat.
