UML lawmakers donating one month salary to flood victims

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML Parliamentary Party meeting on Tuesday took the decision to provide one month salary of its lawmakers to raise funds for the families hit by flooding and landslides.

In the meeting presided by the party Chairman KP Sharma Oli at the Legislature-Parliament building today, the party also demanded the government to provide Rs 500,000 to each family of those killed in the floods and landslides.

Similarly, UML's Chief Whip Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal said that the party took the decision on making the demand with the government to immediately bring out rescue, search, rehabilitation and relief programmes targeting the flood victims.

The meeting also called on the government to carry out a fact finding missing over the inundation of the Nepali territories due to the barrage built by India in the no man's land.

The main opposition party also demanded the government to fulfill as much as demands put forth by senior orthopaedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC, who is on a fast-unto-death, and inform Dr KC about the demands that cannot be fulfilled.
