CTEVT objects to MoE decision

BHAKTAPUR: Taking exception to the decision of the Ministry of Education to allow the Higher Secondary Education Board to introduce technical and vocation education in Grade XI and XII, the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training on Tuesday has warned of moving the court to challenge the decision. Ram Hari Lamichhane, CTEVT Member Secretary, said that CTEVT is the pioneer institution in technical and vocational education and MoE had earlier asked it to do preparations to address the problems of SLC graduates from technical stream, but it now has asked the HSEB to introduce technical and vocational education. “MoE did not bother to seek our consent while taking the decision. The decision will only produce academic graduates which will enroll in higher education despite studying technical subjects,” he said. Lamichhane said that the move was a conspiracy of the Department of Education to limit the jurisdiction of CTEVT.
