Cyclist embarks on green Earth drive

Kathmandu, December 30:

In his bid to urge everyone who listens to adopt cycling for environment conservation and the government to develop bicycle tracks to facilitate his endeavour, cyclist Furtemba Sherpa is organising a cycle rally on January 3.

Sherpa, who has toured 46 countries, has asked all the interested Nepalis, as well as the foreigners staying in Nepal, to join the rally organised for the cause.

“Anybody can participate in the rally for the sake of humanity,” said Sherpa, who cycled through the countries spreading the message of “world peace and environment protection”.

Born in Sankhuwasabha district, Sherpa started his tour from Pasang Lhamu Foundation, Sankha Park.

Sherpa is soon leaving Nepal to accomplish his goal of visiting 104 countries in the next 12 years.

The rally will begin from Sanchaya Kosh Building in Thamel at 1 pm, ending on the premises of Sherpa Sewa Kendra at Bouddha, Tusal.

The rally would pass through Durbarmarg, Jai Nepal, Kamal Pokhari, Ratopool, Gaushala, Chabahil and Boudha.

The rally has been supported by Nepal Sherpa Students’ Forum, Right Educational Consultancy Pvt Ltd and Sherpa Sewa Kendra, Boudha. The participants will be given a certificate.
