Dahal, Bijukchhe to end deadlock
KATHMANDU: Unified CPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and President of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party Narayan Man Bijukchhe 'Rohit' today agreed in principle to work towards creating a conducive climate to end the ongoing political deadlock in the country.
The agreement was made during a meeting of the two leaders at the Kamal Binayak-based residence of Bijukchhe, today.
Emerging out of the one-hour-long meeting, Prachanda told the reporters that they agreed to work towards creating an environment of cooperation, consensus and unity among the parties.
Prachanda , meanwhile, requested Bijukchhe to support the ongoing movement of his party.
However, Bijukchhe clarified that his party would only support the Maoist movement if the latter committed not to opt for state restructuring on the basis of language and ethnicity.
The due also agreed to continue dialogues with other political parties to end the political stalemate. Prachanda had also sought the opinion of Bijukchhe on the question of imposing the President's rule by dissolving the Constituent Assembly.
During the hour long meeting, Bijukchhe had clarified Prachanda that President Dr Ram Baran Yadav had never acted against the constitution and therefore the Sankalp Prastav could not be discussed in the parliament. Prachanda, however, insisted that the Sankalp Prastav was key to resolving the deadlock.
Prachanda, meanwhile, told Bijukchhe that the third phase of the Maoist movement would also be peaceful.
Secretary of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) Sunil Prajapati, treasurer Chaitya Raj Shakya and foreign department chief Prem Suwal were also present during the meeting.
