Dahal okays PM's induction in HLMP
KATHMANDU: Chairman of the UCPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', who was averse to the idea of inducting Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal as a member in the High-Level Political Mechanism, today agreed to induct him in the panel as an 'invitee' member.
"We agreed to induct PM Nepal as 'invitee' member of the HLPM since he is the one who implements the decision of the mechanism," Prachanda told reporters following his meeting with NC president Girija Prasad Koirala at the latter's residence. Prachanda said he was convinced by the arguments of Koirala and so agreed to induct the PM in the elite panel.
Earlier, Prachanda took a stance that the PM could not be a member of the high-level mechanism since UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal had already represented from his party.
Prachanda also asserted that the mechanism would be of 11 members, including three Madhes-based parties.
According to him, the next meeting is slated for Monday during which the mechanism would draft a working procedure.
UML chieftain Jhalanath Khanal and Koirala, who is leading the HLPM, had agreed to induct PM Nepal as an invitee member on Wednesday, before Khanal left for New Delhi.
