Dalit body wants seat in academy

KATHMANDU: Nepal Dalit Literature and Cultural Academy has expressed serious concern about the composition of recently-appointed members of the Nepal Academy.

In a statement issued here today, president of the academy Padam Sundas said that the government had failed to appoint any Dalit representative in the academy.

“We feel the mentality of the people in power has not changed despite the drastic political change caused by a popular revolt,” Sundas said.

He has requested the government to appoint a Dalit member in the vacant position without delay.
