Dhakal brushes aside idea of referendum
Kathmandu, August 7:
Minister for Information and Communication Tanka Dhakal today said the government has not yet thought of holding referendum on any issue.
Dhakal said this in response to a public statement by Minister for Finance Madhukar Shumsher Rana, who two days ago had said the government could consider holding referendum “to test the popularity of monarchists and republicans”.
Addressing a press meet organised by the Department of Information today, Dhakal said: “The government has not reached any conclusion on a referendum.”
Dhakal, however, said referendum could be held through a “constitutional process”.
