Digital tech to help attain SAARC goals: Minister
KATHMANDU: Minister for Information and Communication, Shankar Pokharel today said the digital connectivity among the South Asian countries could be instrumental in addressing the goals set by SAARC.
Inaugurating a two-day regional training on ‘enhancing digital connectivity among member states' organised by SAARC Information Centre, he said unlike physical and human networking, digital connectivity could be a great asset to achieve set goals.
"Creating communication highways across the region can create synergy effects and open up avenues to promote economic and other ties among the people of this region," Minister Pokharel said, adding, "It would also strengthen peace, harmony and understandings among the member nations."
He said that experience-sharing among the member states could make the region more vibrant, integrated and competent to outside world.
"Digital technology has become a boon for quality information and communication system in the world," he said. "The use of the Information and Communication Technology has become a measuring rod for progress in today's world." He also said the use of telephone and internet by the people can help promote quality of life in the region.
