Docs warn of epidemic outbreak

KATHMANDU: Doctors have warned the flood victims of possible outbreak of epidemic. They have advised people living in the flood-hit areas to eat healthy food and drink pure water.

There is a risk of possible outbreak of dengue, chikungunya, and malaria in flood-affected areas. Flood victims, however, have been advised not to panic as the situation is under control. Diarrhoea and common cold have been reported in some areas.

“Rapid response teams have been sent to the flood-affected districts to prevent epidemic outbreak,” said Dr Bhesh Raj Pokharel, section chief, Disaster Management Section, Teku.
