Dozen police officials retire

KATHMANDU: A dozen officials of the Nepal Police retired on Thursday after the government decided not to extend their service period.

DIG Bharat GC and Bir Saran Thapa, SSP Arjun Mainaly, Min Prasad Pandey, Jeevan Shrestha and Indra Lal Prajapati, DSP Shambhu Raj Basnet, Kamal Bahadur Karki and Robar Bahadur Basnet are among those who retired today.

The police headquarters had requested the Home Ministry to extend their tenure, however, the Home Ministry turned down the request saying it wanted the same law to be implemented in the Nepal Police as in the Armed Police Force and the National Investigation Department where officials who complete their service for 30 years automatically retire.
