Dr KC's fast-unto-death enters 24th day, the longest at a stretch
KATHMANDU: It has been 24 days since medical activist Dr Govinda KC went on a fast-unto-death demanding reforms in medical education. This is the longest period that the Satyagrahi has gone on a hunger strike at a stretch.
Prior to this, Dr KC had staged a fast-unto-death for 23 days during the time of Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government.
The senior orthopaedic surgeon has repeatedly staged protests of similar nature, with medical education reforms in the heart of his actions.
Talks between government and Dr KC are still uncertain.
The government has recently tried to present a revised Medical Education Bill in the parliament which violates the provisions of the agreement reached by the former government with Dr KC.
