Drive for clean world

Kathmandu, June 5:

A week-long programme organised by Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City (LSMC) and an NGO to raise awareness on issues relating to environment concluded today.

Bottlers Nepal Limited supported the programme by sponsoring prizes for several events.

The programme kicked off with distribution of tools like shovels, trash bins and sweep brushes to schools, local communities, clubs and other groups for voluntary cleaning. The programme focused on educating children about environment conservation.

“Kick off the habits that adversely impact the environment” was the key message of the celebrations. Besides voluntary cleaning, contests were held in the schools and clubs working for nature conservation in Lalitpur.

The closing ceremony of the programme was held on the World Environment Day at the Patan Durbar Square today.

The programme was inaugurated by chief executive officer of the LSMC and was followed

by a presentation on Waste Water Treatment Technology practised by Bottlers Nepal.

The presentation was followed by an exhibition on the condition of the Bagmati river, green board exhibition and environmental documentary shows.
