Duo held for swindling govt job aspirant of Rs 600,000

KATHMANDU: Police on Tuesday arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in defrauding a man, assuring him of a job of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in the National Investigation Department (NID).

The suspects have been identified as Ram Akwal Chaudhari (45) of Amarpatti-4, Bara and Tul Bahadur Tamang (46) of Netragunj-9, Sarlahi.

Police said that the duo had collected Rs 600,000 with a cheque from Sunil Thapa of Thangpalkot-3, Sindhupalchok to appoint him to the post of ASI in the NID.

According to a complaint lodged with police, Thapa was interviewed by a man, who posed himself as an Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of the NID, at the Gyanjung Hotel.

Thapa informed that he had given a cheque of Rs 600,000 to Chaudhari, who called himself as an editor of the Himalayan News Express.

After Thapa knew that he was deceived, he filed a case against them at the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD), police added.

Both the suspects have been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu for further investigation.

Police said that the man who interviewed the victim is absconding and they are searching for him.
