Duo held for swindling with Portugal visas, lucrative jobs

KATHMANDU: Police on Thursday arrested two persons for swindling two people assuring them of lucrative jobs in Portugal.

The Metropolitan Police Crime Division said Mohammed Imram Miya (33) of Kaski district and Bishram Sharma (28) of Pragati VDC in Nawalparasi were arrested for swindling Amrit Tamang (34) and Suresh Tamang (28) of Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City.

The arrestees had cheated them into paying a total of Rs 3.6 million from the Tamang duo in instalments.

They were travelling on tourist visas via Abu Dhabi of United Arab Emirates only to be stranded in Tbilisi of Georgia.

Realising that they were deceived, the victims returned to Kathmandu and lodged a complaint at the MPCD against the suspects.

Police said Miya and Sharma have been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigations.
