EC ends ruling party NCP (NCP)'s name ordeal
KATHMANDU: The Election Commission of Nepal today legitimised the ruling party, formally recognising the unified party's name as Nepal Communist Party (NCP).
Earlier, Rishi Kattel led Nepal Communist Party had filed an application demanding rejection of the name Nepal Communist Party (NCP) which bore a resemblance to the NCP's name, which was formed ahead of the newly unified party.
The commission on Friday rejected Kattel's plea stating that both the party's had separate and unique identities and thus a similarity in their names should not be held as a major issue.
Meanwhile, the Kattel led Nepal Communist Party has threatened to move court if the commission does not correct its decision.
