Elections in 'easy environment', assures Dahal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has assured that the local level elections, announced for May 14, would be held in an "easy environment" on the stipulated date.

Receiving a memorandum from a delegation of the Madhesi Jatiya Samanwaya Samaj at Singhadarbar in Kathmandu on Sunday, PM Dahal said he was making efforts to conduct the polls by bringing the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front, an alliance of Madhes-based parties, to an agreement.

The Samaj had submitted the memorandum to Dahal demanding an amendment to the Constitution before the local polls.

Dahal further claimed that he was working hard to finalise a Constitution amendment proposal to convince the agitating parites within a couple of days.

There was no any alternative to cooperation among the progressive people to stop efforts to take the nation towards extremism, he added.
