Embassy marks Republic Day of India in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The Embassy of India in Nepal organised a special function to mark the 67th Republic Day of India in the Embassy premises in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae hoisted India's national flag and read out Indian President Pranab Mukherjee's message on the occasion.

The President’s message stressed, among other things, India’s support for peace, stability and development in its neighbourhood, the Indian Embassy said in a  statement.

The Embassy of India in Nepal organised a special function to mark the 67th Republic Day of India in the Embassy premises in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

The Government of India, on this occasion, reaffirmed its commitment to support Nepal on its journey towards development and gifted 40 ambulances and eight buses to various hospitals, non-profit charitable organisation and educational institutions of different districts to strengthen education and health services in Nepal, the Embassy said.

The Ambassador presented 33 ambulances and six buses in the function at Kathmandu whereas seven other ambulances and two buses were gifted by the Consulate General of India, Birgunj to different organisations under its consular jurisdiction.
