Employer flees without paying staffers

Kathmandu, August 12:

Chairman of the Anamnagar-based Sarathi Media Pvt Ltd (SMPL) Satyandra Yadav Adhikari has gone missing without paying salaries to his staffers.

He had also collected a large sum of money from youths, assuring them of jobs abroad.

“Adhikari employed dozens of employees. But he fled without paying them,” said one of the staffers.

Staffers assemble on the office premises daily to chart plan how to recover their dues. “None of the staffers have been paid a single penny,” said Kamana Tuladhar of Pharping, an SMPL staff.

Tuladhar said Adhikari had taken Rs 100,000, passport and citizenship of his younger brother Kastup Tuladhar promising him to send to USA for studies five months ago.

Samikshya Bhetwal, a computer operator, has not received her salary since she was appointed some two months ago. She said Adhikari used to call her outside his office and sometimes at his residence.

Meanwhile, Arjun Marahattha, who claimed to be the business partner of Adhikari, said he took some electronic goods last night to a new office, as the employees were trying to seize the property to cover their dues. The new office has been established in Samakhushi, Kathmandu, he said.

Marahattha said he would help the employees get their dues by selling the property of the publication if Adhikary failed to appear.
