Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa today directed Inspector General of Police Prakash Aryal and other senior cops to work and keep changing as per the need of the hour.

Thapa, who visited Nepal Police Headquarters in Naxal after being appointed home minister, said more

effective criminal investigation and robust security arrangements could play a vital role in the development and prosperity of the country. He also inspected Command Centre, Digital Forensic Lab and Polygraph Section in the NP Headquarters.

Minister Thapa held also directed provincial police chiefs not to compromise on peace and security in areas falling under their domain. Stating that Nepal Police was in dire need of Provincial Police Act and resources, he assured that the MoHA would come up with a concrete plan to address outstanding issues facing the security agency.

IGP Aryal urged Minister Thapa to facilitate Nepal Police with policy clarity to carry out its duties and responsibilities under the federal setup. “With significant change in the governance system, it requires the government to review the existing strength and resources of the security agency,” he said.

Aryal also underscored the need for timely issuance of the Federal Police Act to draw a line of jurisdiction between the federal and provincial police.   Home Secretary Mohan Krishna Sapkota was also present with Thapa.
