EV entrepreneurs organise chakka jam
Kathmandu, February 25:
The workers and entrepreneurs of electric vehicles (EV) today organised a rally and observed a one-and-a-half-hour chakka jam at Ratna Park, demanding an end to load shedding that has adversely affected their business.
The rally led by Clean Locomotive Entrepreneurs’ Association of Nepal (CLEAN) began at 10:30 am with 60 safa tempos from RNAC and ended in front of the main office of the Nepal Electricity Authority.
The representatives of CLEAN held a meeting with managing director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Arjun Karki, at the latter’s office while the chakka jam was going on.
Umesh Shrestha, president of the CLEAN, said Karki was positive about increasing the capacity of chargers.
“The load shedding hours will not exceed six hours a day,” Shrestha quoted Karki as saying. He also said that the load shedding hours would be decreased by mid-March and the nation would not experience such a difficult time again.
CLEAN president Shrestha said another meeting would be held on March 4. “During the next meeting either capacity of the chargers will be increased or alternatives will be provided,” he said.
