Famed pianist to perform in town

Kathmandu, November 20:

Leopoldo Erice, a famed Spanish pianist, will perform solo at the Hyatt Regency tomorrow.

Erice has performed extensively in Spain and given recitals in the USA, Canada, Colombia, Panama, Lithuania, Germany, Luxembourg and Italy. Born in Madrid, he is honoured with prestigious national awards and won a number of competitions.

Eric is a candidate for the Dorctorate of Musical Arts degree in piano in the Stony Brook University, New York.

At a press meet organised today, Eduardo Lechuga Jimenez, charge d’ affaires of the European Union, said of the upcoming performance of Erice: “It will be a celebration of music and the European Union and Nepal working together.”

Erice said he would play five selected compositions created by maestros of the world music.

“I will be playing selected classical pieces, which are great not because I am playing but they are rare pieces which people in this part of the world will seldom get to listen,” said Eric.
