Federal Alliance members to vote against Oli in no-confidence test

KATHMANDU: The Federal Alliance, an alliance of parties protesting the Constitution implemented last year, has decided that lawmakers of its constituent parties would vote against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli-led government when the Parliament would put a no-confidence motion against the incumbent Cabinet to vote.

A meeting of the Alliance held in Kathmandu on Sunday and Monday made the decision to this effect, according to the Alliance spokesperson Om Gurung.

The Parliament is scheduled to begin discussion on the no-confidence motion jointly filed by CPN Maoist Centre and Nepali Congress, on Thursday.

The meeting, however, has not decided on whether they take part in the government to be formed after the Oli government's fall, according to Gurung.

Meanwhile, the Alliance decided to continue its protest programmes against the Constitution throughout the nation.

However, the form of the protest has been softened as the Alliance has decided to hold 10 'extensive interactions' on its demands in 10 cities of the nation including Kathmandu Valley from July 20 to September 13.
