Alliance serves Nov 15 ultimatum for statute amendment

KATHMANDU: The Federal Alliance including the United Democratic Madhesi Front has expressed concerns over the ignorance on part of the government to register the Constitution amendment proposal in the House even within the timeframe that it unilaterally announced.

A meeting of the Alliance held on Thursday at the Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal office in Tinkune took a decision to take to the streets if the Constitution amendment bill was not registered by coming November 15.

As no indication was seen whereby the government would register the bill, a decision was taken to resume the agitation, said the Alliance Secretariat member Keshav Jha.

"Programmes of protest will begin from tomorrow in one form or the other; but we will wait until mid-November, and then go for the nationwide agitation if it does not take place within that time," Jha said.

Federal Alliance Coordinator Upendra Yadav,  Tarai Madhes Democratic Party Mahantha Thakur, Tarai Madhes Samajbadi Party President Sharad Singh Bhandari and other leaders had attended the meeting.
