Federal Alliance starts relay hunger strike

KATHMANDU: Federal Alliance, the alliance of more than two dozen parties including constituents of the United Democratic Madhesi Front, has started an almost one month long relay hunger strike in the Capital from Tuesday.

The agitating forces has staged relay hunger strike at Khula Manch from this morning.

The Alliance had decided to stage relay hunger strike with an aim to exert more pressure on the government to address their demands.

Their demands include provisions for proportional representation and rewriting of the Constitution.

Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal (FSF-N) Co-Chairman Rajendra Shrestha said that the Alliance was compelled to stage relay hunger strike after the government turned indifferent to their demands.

Senior leaders of the Alliance—Uprendra Yadav, Ashok Rai, Renu Yadav and Sarat Singh Bhandari—among others are participating in the relay hunger strike."
