Fee fixed for private schools

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Fee Fixation and Monitoring Committee of Kathmandu held on Monday announced the new fee structure for Grade 'C' primary and lower secondary schools of Kathmandu district.

The district committee on Monday fixed the monthly fees of primary and lower secondary schools at Rs 800 and Rs 900, respectively, in the metropolitan city area, Rs 700 and Rs 800 in municipalities and Rs 500 and Rs 600 for schools located on the outskirts of the district.

Suprabhat Bhandari, president of the Nepal Guardians' Association, told this daily that they could not fix the fee structure for the secondary level due to a disagreement between the guardians and private school owners. He said they had decided to allow the 'B' grade schools to increase their fee structure by 25 per cent and 'A' grade schools by 50 per cent.

According to Bhandari, the remaining decisions would be taken in the next meeting.
