Fire at Balkhu petrol pump injures 3

KATHMANDU: A fire broke out, reportedly due to an electric short circuit, in an office of Dakshinkali Petrol Pump, in Balkhu, KMC-14 of the Capital and left three injured, on Thursday.

Likewise, property worth around Rs 70,000 including computers and furniture was gutted in the fire, said police.

Employee of the pump, Shiva Maharjan (40), was severely injured while trying to put off the fire along with police and others, police added.

Likewise, Nepal Police Head Constable Shankar Datta Bhatta deployed from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Kalimati and a driver of an oil tanker (Lu 1 Kha 9553), Bikas Gurung (35) of Padsari-1 of Rupandehi district were also injured while controlling the fire.

Bhatta and Gurung have been discharged from the Vayodha Hospital after needful treatment. Mahrajan is being treated at the Kirtipur Hospital. He is said to be in a serious condition.

The fire was later put off with the help of a fire brigade, police personnel and locals.
