KATHMANDU: A man was asphyxiated while a house he was in caught fire in Maruhiti of Kathmandu, on Wednesday.

The smoke from the electric short circuit-induced fire had asphyxiated Sushil Kumar Jha (50) today.

The house was owned by the victim's brother Anil Jha.

Meanwhile, Sushil was rushed to Bir Hospital, which later referred him to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.

Property worth Rs 9 million was gutted in the fire before police and locals contained it, according to police.

Further investigation is underway.
