Fish of Kaligandaki A reservoir tagged

Kathmandu, November 21:

Kaligandaki Fish Hatchery (KFH) with technical support from the Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) has recently tagged some 2,200 fish of different species at the reservoir of the Kaligandaki A hydro-electricity project at Mirmi in Syangja to study their number and growth rate.

The fish weighing 75 grams on an average were tagged and rehabilitated in the presence of locals, Dev Sharma Poudel of Kaligandaki Hydropower Department and senior NARC scientists. Chief of the Communication and Documentation Division of NARC, Bhola Man Singh Basnet, said 1.725 million fishlings have already been released.
