Kathmandu, December 27

Department of Supply Management and Protection of Consumers Interest has asked Nava Jeevan Wellness Centre Pvt Ltd, Maitighar, to submit necessary documents as it was found running illegally.

The department has locked the centre and has asked the owners to provide necessary documents.

“We carried out an investigation after we received complaints about the health centre. It was found running without registration. It wasn’t also registered with Department of Drug Administration,” said Laxman Shrestha, spokesperson for Department of Supply Management and Protection of Consumers Interest.

“The organisation was found to be cheating people. It offered whole body check-up at Rs 400 and prescribed medicines for kidney diseases even to people without any renal complication,” he added.

Department of Drug Administration has been investigating various health centres after receiving complaints against them.

Earlier, the department had sought clarification from Gwarko-based B&B Hospital, Dhapasi-based Grande International Hospital, Bansbari-based National Institute of Neurological and Allied Sciences and Balkhu-based Vayodha hospital after they were found overcharging patients. They were found charging patients additional fee under different headings.

Similarly, Hospital for Advanced Medical Services in Buddhanagar and Bagbazar-based Model Hospital were also asked to furnish clarification.
