Five murder accused in police net

KATHMANDU; Metropolitan Police Crime Division on Monday nabbed all the five persons accused of killing Dawa Chhiring Sherpa in the capital.

Dawa (23), an employee of Villa Everest Korean House and Restaurant at Thamel, succumbed to injuries in Bir Hospital on March 18 after he was repeatedly stabbed by a gang of five persons in Maligaun.

The arrested persons are: Badal Pulami from Piple of Chitwan, Binita Rai alias ‘Priya’ (18) from Dharan of Sunsari, Hira Bahadur Tamang (23) from Piple of Chitwan, Kamal Tamang (22) from Manthali of Ramechhap and Wangchhu Sherpa (22) from Kimalung- 8 of Bhojpur.

A special squad of MPCD arrested them from a

far-flung village of Dhading, acting on a tip-off.

SSP Rana Bahadur Chand, in-charge, MPCD, said all of them have pleaded guilty of hatching the

murder plot and killing Dawa, who hailed from Palte of Okhaldhunga.

Priya, who works at

Studied Restaurant in Thamel, told her boy friend Badal that Dawa raped

her by threatening her with life in a room on March 16 where he worked as a restaurant worker.

“Badal, a taxi driver, hatched a plot to kill Dawa in Priya’s rented room in Chandole on March 17,” SSP quoted Priya as telling investigating officials.

Kamal and Wangchhu (both taxi drivers) and

Hira, a metal welder,

gathered in Chandole at Badal’s request and Priya called Dawa over phone

to Maligaun.

According to the police, Priya and Dawa held a brief talk at around 3 pm before Badal pounced on Dawa and repeatedly attacked him with a knife. Kamal and Hira also aided Badal in the attack.

Priya, meanwhile, went to Wangchuu and waited for the three assailants in his cab. Later all of them fled the scene in the Wangchuu’s cab. The taxi has been recovered from the accused.

The police have also recovered the knife used in the murder and a motorcycle owned by Dawa from the incident site.

Four held with pistols

KATHMANDU: Two gangsters involved in peddling narcotic drugs extortion and issuing threats to the people

over phone were arrested by the Nepal Police on March 20.

SSP Rana Bahadur Chand, in-charge, Metropolitan Police Crime Division, today said a special squad of police arrested the duo with two pistols and heroin from the Kathmandu Valley. They have been identified as Lumadi Karki alias ‘Rabin’ (24), and Raj Kumar Thapa (32), hailing from Kalyanpur and Nirjamandal of Nuwakot, respectively. The police recovered an Italy-made automatic pistol, its ammunition and 57 grams of heroin from their rented room in Koteshwor. They have been booked under Arms and Ammunition and Narcotic Drugs (Control) Act.

In a separate incident, Metropolitan Police Range, Hanumandhoka, on Monday arrested Bhok Bahadur Lama alias ‘Dinesh’ and Manish Tamang from Dhading with an automatic pistol and two bullets. The arrests were made from Gyaneshwor.
