Five robbers in police net

Lalitpur, April 5:

The Metropolitan Police yesterday arrested five persons allegedly involved in robbing cash and valuables worth over Rs 700,000 from over five financial institutions.

SP Pashupati Upadhyay at the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, said the arrested persons were Subhas Rai and Sangam Rai of Okhaldhunga, Krishna Lal Maharjan of Makawanpur, Sachindra Rai of Udaypur and Suman Rai of Sunsari.

Upadhyay said the police also seized three pistols, four cartridges of bullets, a khukuri and Rs 76,660 cash from them. They were arrested from different places of Lalitpur.

The police said the group has admitted to robbing cash and valuables from a Baneshwor-based money transfer, National Finance at Babarmahal, Bageshwori Saving and Credit Coopertive at Gaushala and Prabhu Overseas at Suryabinayak of Bhaktapur.
