Five thieves, two drug peddlers held

KATHMANDU; A special squad deployed by the Metropolitan Police Crime Division yesterday arrested five robbers

who were at large since March 10.

Those arrested are Janak Nepali (27) of Dang, Anwar Hussein ‘Satya’ (46) of Parsa, Sunil Raut (30) from Kolkata of India, Birtaman Gurung ‘Sunil’ (23) and Purna Bahadur Langhali Magar ‘Yaku’ (34) of Jhapa. The police also recovered Rs 29,000, one tola of gold, 25 tolas of silver, a mobile phone set and a khukuri. MPCD said three other robbers-Pawan Gurung (30s) and Pappu Kale (20s)-are absconding. Meanwhile, MPCD today arrested Pravin Lama (25) of Makawanpur and Prem Shrestha (32) of Rautahat for possessing 1.5 kg of marijuana from Baluwatar.

All those arrested have been handed over to Metropolitan Police Range, Hanumandhoka for further investigation.
