Flex lights to be fixed at Hanuman Dhoka

KATHMANDU: Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Conservation Programme is planning to put flex lights around the Durbar Square.

Hari Kumar Shrestha, programme manager at HDDCP, said they would forward a proposal to the government to set up flex lights in the budget of 2009/10.

He informed that they had allocated Rs 9 million for the project. The HDDCP collects Rs 2 crore from tourist entrance fees.

"We have chalked out the concept in a bid to promote Nepali cultural heritage," said Shrestha, adding that the flex lights would add to the beauty of the historical landmarks at the Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square.

Shrestha also urged Nepal Electricity Authority, Archaeological Department and other concerned bodies to extend cooperation for the project.

Shyam Sundar Rajbansi, chief, HDDPD, said it was their responsibility to preserve the historical sites.

He added that he would do everything possible to attract more tourists in the area.
