Footwear exhibition kicks-off from December 29 in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: An exhibition cum sale of the footwear and leather goods to promote the industries that produce such domestic goods is going to be conducted in Kathmandu from Friday.

The exhibition — with a goal to promote domestic goods — organised by the Footwear Manufacturers' Association Nepal will run from December 29, 2017 to January 4, 2018.

According to Rabin Kumar Shrestha, Chairperson of the association the fair will have 135 stalls.

There are 1501 footwear industries under operation in Nepal, which aim to provide employment directly to around 50,000 people, informed Nani Raj Ghimire, Coordinator of the exhibition management main committee.

The total annual capacity of the industries is to produce 43.9 million pairs of footwear, Ghimire added.
