Forgery convict arrested after four years, sent to jail
KATHMANDU: An absconding man, who was convicted of forgery of the government seal, has been arrested after four years, police said on Friday.
In May 2012, the Bhaktapur District Court had slapped one year term on Ram Prasad Chaulagain of Sinamangal, KMC-9, on a fraudulent land transaction.
Chaulagain, now 47, was one of the persons who had reportedly shown Brindawati Malla a plot of land at Sipadol-4 of Bhaktapur but sold her another plot, based on forged documents and maps. They had duped her of Rs 1 million on the scam.
A team of Nepal Police's Central Investigation Bureau got hold of the absconding con man from Gaurighat of Kathmandu on Thursday.
He was presented before the the Bhaktapur District Court today for the execution of verdict against him, police said. Chaulagain has been sent to the Dillibazar-based Prison Office.
