Former CAN President Shah no more
KATHMANDU: Former President of Cricket Association of Nepal Jaya Kumar Nath Shah passed away this afternoon. He was 89.
Shah, who was suffering from a heart ailment for long, died in the course of treatment at Thapathali-based Norvic International Hospital, said the family sources.
A permanent resident of Baitadi, Shah led the CAN for consecutive four decades in the past.
He had also served as a Vice President of the Asian Cricket Council.
He received an honour from Minister for Youth and Sports Rajan KC at a special general meeting of the CAN recently.
Likewise, the ICC also honoured him with the lifetime award in 2003, becoming the first Nepali to receive the honour.
Meanwhile, Chatur Bahadur Chand of CAN expressed sorrow over the demise of Shahstating that his demise has caused an irreparable loss to the Nepali cricket fraternity.
