Four held for dealing in fake currency

Kathmandu, February 22:

A police team from the Lalitpur sub-office of the Valley Crime Investigation Branch, Hanumandhoka, has arrested four persons from Chochhe of Bhaktapur municipality for dealing in fake Nepali currency.

According to police, Bhairab Kumar Tamang alias Akkal, Prem Lama, 40, Santabir Tamang and Kumar Lama of Kavre were arrested yesterday. Tamang was arrested from Chochhe of Bhaktapur; Lama was nabbed from Dallu of Kathmandu and Santabir was arrested from Suryabinayak whereas Kumar was arrested from Thimi of Bhaktapur.

The police team, acting on a tip-off, managed to seize fake currency amounting to Rs 50,000 from Bhairab’s rented room at Chochhe.

The four have been forwarded to the Bhaktapur District Police Office for necessary legal procedures against them, police said.
