Four motorcycle thieves nabbed

Four persons have been arrested from different parts of Lalitpur on charge of stealing motorcycles in the past couple of days.

Yadav Thapa Chhetri, Suraj Shrestha, Pasang Tamang and Rabindra Maharjan were arrested and handed over to Lalitpur District Police for investigations, police said.

Suraj Shrestha of Lalitpur-15 was arrested at B and B Hospital when he was riding a stolen Hero Honda Slendor with registration no Ba 9 Pa 5176. Police found the bike’s original number was Ba 8 P 2024 which he had stolen from Lok Narayan Napit’s house at Talachhe.

Yadav Thapa of Mahadevsthan VDC, Ward No 5, of Thankot was arrested from Ekantakuna of Lalitpur Ward No 4 for stealing a motorcycle with registration No Ba 13 Pa 1301.

Pasang Lama from Selung village of Dolakha — who was temporarily staying at Swayambhu, Kathmandu-15 — was caught red-handed while he was trying to escape with a motorcycle with number plate Ba 3 Pa 9750 from Kopandole.

Similarly, Rabindra Maharjan, 24, was held from Lalitpur’s Ward No 3 when he was trying to flee with a motorcycle with number plate Ba 8 Pa 5816. He, however, confessed to stealing the motorcycle from Pulchowk.

Meantime, Lalitpur District Police Office said six motorcycles were lying unclaimed. The motorcycles with registration No Ba 13 Pa 6149 (Passion), Ba 12 Pa 7143 (CBZ), Ba 12 Pa 3095 (Splendor), Ba 13 Pa 1301 (Passion), Ba 15 Pa 720 (Enticer) and Ba 13 Pa 6565 (Lancin) are kept in police stations as the owners have not yet filed FIRs for missing motorcycles.

Motorcycle thefts are rampant in the Valley. According to police records, on an average, two motorcycles are stolen every day.
